A friendly reminder for our wonderful clients:

See below important information from Penn Vet
"Ryan Hospital Bulletin Regarding Canine Influenza Outbreak
• In recent weeks, we have detected an abnormally high number of cases of
highly contagious canine influenza in dogs from our region via rt-PCR.
• Recent sequencing points to the H3N2 canine influenza strain which has
been reported to infect cats; current transmissibility is unknown.
• While clinical signs may be similar to bordetellosis/kennel cough, the primary
viral infection will not respond to antimicrobial therapy.
• Veterinary clinics can attempt to identify cases prior to entrance into a
facility and prevent mixing with general patient populations.
• Vaccine availability is currently limited.
• We are encouraging clients and employees to avoid multi-pet situations (i.e.
dog parks, boarding facilities) while cases are high and asymptomatic
shedding is possible.
More information can be found at the AVMA and Cornell Animal Health"

New Appointment Policy:
Due to ever increasing demand for appointments and frequent last-minute cancellations and no-shows, clients will be charged the cost of an office visit if an appointment is cancelled without 24 hours notice OR if a client simply does not show for their appointment. We have many clients waiting for appointments, and it is simply unacceptable to schedule appointments and then cancel the appointment with no time for our office to add a new pet to this appointment time. In an effort to meet the needs of all of our clients, this policy will be enforced, effective November 1st, 2022.

UPDATE 7/29/21
The time has come that we will be allowing clients inside with their pet during their exam!!!
Upon arrival, please call the front desk to alert our staff that you have arrived.
Please give us the color, make, and model of your vehicle.
If you are here for an appointment with the Veterinarian, please park in the parking lot.
Once we are ready for your appointment, a technician will escort you into the building.
If you prefer your appointment still be done curbside, we are more than willing to accommodate you.
If you are here for a technician appointment or medication pick-up, please remain parked at the curb.
Technician appointments and medication/food pick-up will continue curbside. To expedite medication pick-up, you may pay for your medication/food prior to pick up and it can placed outside for your arrival.
Please be patient with our staff during this transition, as we have become accustomed to having only ourselves and your pets inside and many of our staff started with us during Covid and only know curbside service.
Thank you for your kindness, understanding, and patience as our entire staff worked very hard to make you and your pet comfortable during their visit with us during Covid and we assure you that we will continue to do so as you return inside of the building.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call the office at 717-501-4800 or email reception@capehornvet.com. We have been experiencing extremely high call volumes, so we ask that you please leave a message if we're unable to answer your call. We will call you as soon as possible.
Thank you again for your patience and cooperation during this transition.
